Week 10 – Vision: Selective Color

I know, I know. Yuck. Selective color can be cringeworthy, however, when done right, it brings compelling focus to the subject.

I really like this theme! Once again, we were busy traveling, but I did manage to get some nice, color flower photos in California!

I saw this poppy the evening before and made a plan to photo it when the morning sun hit it. The flower was brightened, and the background was darkened! Perfect for the theme without any post-processing.

I tried to shoot all the photos for this week without digital manipulation, but did do a radial filter on this shot to de-saturate the greenery around the flower.
Same color treatment with this photo.
Nice picture, but not as much color difference as I need for the theme.
Another nice picture, but not as much color difference as I need for the theme.

I wasn’t sure how this one would turn out. For sure it had color difference!
